If you want a desktop/gaming experience on the go, I think you will find your answer in this article. The Dell Alienware 17 Laptop  brings the word “gaming” even closer to you. Though its is pricey, it is able to handle intensive graphics of the latest games. Hardcore gaming may already be flocking to the PC stores to get one of these laptops right now!

After looking at the system specifications you must be drooling all over and also heartbroken at the same time because of the price tag. You should also be wary of its weight as it is 4.15kg. (Every Single Version) Another very disappointing thing about the laptop is its battery life, which also lasts for a mere 2 hours and 55 min. Alienware should really find ways to solve this battery problem to avoid losing customers.

Design

The design of the Alienware outer cover is beautifully futuristic, which means the architecture of this laptop makes you think that you are really in the future. But when you open up the laptop, its a little more plain than its cover, as 60% or more of the interior is the same color. Overall the design may be a little flawed on the interior but it is a great designed laptop for you to boast to your friends. It is made out of aluminum shell, reinforced by a magnesium-alloy frame, which means it is very strong for sustaining damage. With this addition, the design component scores a plus.

Performance

Alienware 17 Laptop boasts amazing performance, everything on the laptop is surprisingly smooth. Though the downside is when you play very very intensive graphics games it will drop to about 30 to 40 FPS, which is still playable just like how Battlefield 3 run on consoles with 30 FPS. Other than that it can handle everything else such as work or other forms of entertainment at high speed due to the fact that it has a great i7 Intel Core that can be boosted up to 3.4GHz for the 4700MQ version and 4.0 GHz for the 4900MQ version.

Portability

However, bringing a 4.15 kg bulky sized laptop may be a little troublesome. It’s like carrying a precious little baby everywhere that you go, so this is another con of the laptop. It still can be brought on the go though as i said on the opening paragraphs of my review, but that is the price to pay for a Desktop/Console gaming experience everywhere you go.

Others

It has a 17.3 inch, 1920×1080 full HD screen, this HD screen is really suitable for the graphics that this laptop boasts and for the third iteration of the laptop, blu-ray movies will look amazingly good on the screen to the extent that you fell like you are in the movie itself. Is your computer having trouble reading your thumbdrive or other USB devices, the four 3.0 USB ports will satify your USB needs. Other features also include a HDMI port, mini-Display port, Gigabyte Ethernet, 802.11ac Wifi, Bluetooth 4.0. Blu-ray disc reader is only available on the third version of the Alienware 17, which is also the most expensive one.

Overall Impression

A great laptop with mind-blowing features, high-quality gaming experience and fast and fluid performance, i am quite impressed about what this laptop can do. The only thing that i can say about the laptop is its high price and its portability.

Those who have the money to get this laptop, i would suggest/recommend you to buy the cheapest version if you only want the gaming experience, because from my perspective the cheapest version and the most expensive version have very minor differences between them.
