Directed by Heo Jin-ho, starring Cecilia Cheung, Jang Dong-gun and Zhang Zi Yi. A mesmerizing adaptation of the French novel “Les Liaisons Dangereuses” by Choderlos de Jaclos, which starred Glenn Close and John Malkovich, was also based, set in Shanghai, in the 1930s. At a charity ball for refugees from the Japanese-occupied Northeast, the glamorous entrepreneur and libertine Mo Jie Yu (Cecilia Cheung) strikes a deal with her ex-lover, the devastatingly handsome playboy Xie Yi Fan (Jang Dong-gun). Mo’s most recent lover, a tycoon, has given up on her for a young  schoolgirl. If Xie takes the girl’s virginity, he’ll make a joke out of the tycoon while Miss Mo will commit herself to Xie. But Xie has his eyes on a different prize: the virtuous and caring widow Du Fen Yu (Zhang Zi Yi). The game becomes even more dangerous for everyone involved when the stakes are increased, particularly when Xie falls in love with Du uncontrollably.
